catherine-
hi sweet girl=) look at this! you are so precious. this was a little over a week ago when you were on nasal cannula trials. we love how curious you are=) you look so intently at us when we talk to you-like you want so badly to understand us. one day=) you're doing better sweet baby. yesterday morning they were able to take you off the ventilator and put you back on cpap. this time they let me hold you while they extubated and that kept you calm. they also had given you steroids to help decrease the swelling in your throat. all those things worked well my girl=)
you've done great back on cpap. great blood gases and breathing easily. sometimes you get super angry-it makes your daddy laugh a little-he doesn't like that you're upset, but he does like that you're showing your little temper=) it makes me sad sweet girl, to see you like that. i like that you're feisty-that's probably helping you out a little right now-but it doesn't seem like you. what seems like you is when you've got those big beautiful eyes open and you're looking all around. the truth is probably that both of those are you, but i just feel better when you're happy...either way, you are the most amazing thing i've ever known=) anyway, they worry a little when you get so upset because sometimes you get a little frantic and it's hard for you to catch your breath. we wonder if that's part of what happened last friday when they tried to extubate but were unsuccessful. it could be part of withdrawal from all the narcotic drugs you were on, or it could be because you don't feel good, or it could be because you're almost 2 months old and want to be entertained=) or it just could be because you're tired of everybody messing with you. hopefully not too much longer my girl, and we can bring you home with us. i'm so sorry last week was a rough one for you-but this one is looking up and hopefully we can keep you moving in the right direction=) i love you sweet baby-i can't wait to hold you again and kiss those warm cheeks and the corners of your pretty eyes=)

Katie and Donnie, I am so thankful little Catherine is doing better. She is definitely a fiesty little thing. For some reason I could not get the video to come on, but I know she is a real "cutie". We had prayer for your sweet family Sunday at church, and I am so thankful God in His mercy saw fit to allow your precious baby to get better. I know that it won't be too much longer before you will be able to get Catherine at home where she belongs. We will all continue to pray hard for your beautiful baby. God bless you all! Your cousin, Gail
Oh, I am so glad to hear that Catherine is doing better! I've been checking a couple of times a day for the past 3 days hoping for good news. Praise the Lord!!

Yay!!! So glad you're better sweet baby girl. Hang in there mommy and daddy! I am praying she can come home before you have to go back to work Katie. I have to go back to work in November too so I can only imagine a fraction of what you feel.
I am so glad that things are looking up.
Katie,
I am so glad that things are going better this week. After talking with Shelly, I feel so much closer to your story (more so than I already did). I love you, friend. I cannot wait to meet Catherine, and give you a BIG hug! I'll make some pizza dip for us, too! MMMMM! Or...a peanut butter pie?!?!?!
Yay for cpap and no more breathing tube! So happy Catherine is off the ventilator and keeping the trach discussion away. You guys are always on my heart.

Oh, Praise God that things are looking up and moving in the right direction! I am so glad you were able to hold Catherine while she was extubated Katie, I'm sure it helped reassure her that her mama was holding her :) I continue to pray for God to encourage and sustain you! and Catherine...Oh baby girl I am so proud of all of your hard work! Keep it up so that mama & daddy can bring you home so soon!

So glad to hear she's doing better! We are still praying.
I continue to pray for the very best for little Catherine. The good news is such a day brightner.
God Bless all of you.
Praise Jesus! I am happy to hear your sweet girl is doing much better! I couldn't get the video to work either. Thank you for the update, and we will continue to pray!
The video wouldn't work for me, either... but I am so very happy for the good news... even the feisty-ness... well, especially the feisty-ness!! After all, Catherine is a girl!! My prayers continue to flow...
Such good news! I can't wait until we hear that you are at home in your new nursery. I'm praying for the LORD's provision of time off for your Mom and Dad and protection from the hospital bugs during this time. He loves you very much you know?! I couldn't get the video to work either, but I have your sweet face memorized in my mind! Love to you all - Mama Debbie
Jack and I are so excited Catherine is doing better even though you are showing your "feisty" self. That means you are strong and very normal, my dear. We love you so much already and can hardly wait to meet you in person.

That a girl baby doll....keep up the good work. I wait with anticipation each day to see how you are.
Love to you, your mommy and daddy.
It's so good to hear that Catherine has been bouncing back from her setbacks.
My son had abdominal surgery at 5 weeks (23 years ago) and my daughter had urinary tract reconstruction at 18 months (19 years ago). I still remember a few bad days when they came off the narcotic meds.
Continued prayers from Florida
I'm SO glad to hear things are looking up!! Her fiestiness is probably one thing that's keeping her going. It's a good thing! =) Our prayers for you will continue!
I'm so happy Catherine is doing better. I couldn't see the video, not working for me either.
Katie, Many of your readers of this blogsite could not get the last video to come on. Did you do something different this time? I've always been able to get your others. I'm dying to see this one, too, as I'm sure the others are. I hope and pray that little Catherine is doing very well right now and will soon be going home. We are all keeping her in our prayers down here in Georgia. We love your beautiful baby and are so thankful to God that she is doing well. Yall hang in there! Love to you all, Gail
hey, I just wanted to say that I'm praying for you and your family. I went to school with Tara Dorsey and saw your blog mentioned on her's. My little girl was born about a month before yours, and I can't even imagine what you're going through right now. Catherine will be in my prayers, I'm glad she's putting up such a strong fight!
Katie and Donnie, My husband and I walked this very same journey with our son, who is getting ready to celebrate his 14th birthday. We, too, found out in utero of his difficulties, and walked each day in faith, as I have watched you do through your blogs. From past experience, please know that I am praying specifically during these ups and downs that you are walking through, for they bring back so many specific memories of our journey with our son. I can truly understand and have felt each emotion that you have shared, your frutrations, your sadness, your anger, confusion, and yet surrounded by all of that, I hear your faith in our Lord .....in Whom nothing is impossible. One thing that I learned through it all - is that He gives us what we need, when we need it - not necessarily before ...so - it was a moment by moment walk of faith and trust, relying on Him completely. Some days, it just hurt for me to simply breathe ..and so I am praying for an abundance of strength and peace for you on those days .... I remember them well. Please know that I am here if you at any time would want to talk, share or whatever may be helpful to you. I recently met Dana Jones and she shared your journey with me. Blessings to each of you ..Roena Clarke rouva@comcast.net
Feisty is good, a loving mother like you is even better!
