catherine has something to say

catherine has some news to share. this is the video we sent to grandaddy a few weeks ago while he was out of town...
'tis true. baby davis #2 is due to arrive in december! christmas day, to be exact, but you better believe we'll be doing everything we can to bring this baby into the world before then. it makes me sad to imagine my child having to share a birthday with christmas, because i hear from my friends with christmas birthdays (or near christmas birthdays) that they never fail to be neglected or get the old "oh this present is for your birthday and christmas!" and that makes me sad. i'm already trying to think of creative ways to make the little babe's birthday special every year. but that's my neurotic side coming out, so let's move on...
i'm 9 weeks along. most people would "advise" to wait until at least 12 weeks to share your news, especially with the world wide web, but who are we kidding. donnie and i have never been those people. and big sister wouldn't let us keep it a secret even if we wanted to! heck, she was telling people i was pregnant long before we were even trying to be! plus, we are obviously hoping for a healthy baby this time around (although we'd never trade what we got the first time for a healthy newborn over our sweet catherine girl), so we appreciate any prayers our bloggy friends might pray for us. it worked with catherine, so we certainly think asking for your prayers is worth trying again. thanks, by the way, for those=) and if anyone is wondering, during my pregnancy with catherine the doctors told us there was no reason to think that any subsequent children we have would have the problems that she had (everything was normal on the amniocentesis they did then), but of course we can't help but be a bit nervous. but only a little bit. really. and i give Jesus every ounce of credit for that, because i believe only He could be the one to take away the potential anxiety that could come along with this pregnancy as a result of everything we went through with catherine. thank you to Him as well. what an understatement=) catherine is still hoping for twins. she's very persistent, that one. every single time, without fail, that someone asks her if she thinks this will be a baby boy or baby girl, she says "BOTH! TWINS! A BABY BOY AND A BABY GIRL!" so while you're praying, why don't you toss in that she won't be disappointed when only one baby comes out in december! so catherine is happy, to say the least=) she has made it clear what she hopes this baby (well, babies, as she has made her preference clear) will be, but mommy and daddy could not possibly care less what gender this sweet babe is. we think two sisters would be so much fun, but adding a little more testosterone to our family would be fun too. bring it on, whatever it may be=) thanks for being excited with us, and praying with us. it's an oddly sentimental feeling to know that the same people who walked with us on our catherine journey are walking with us now=) we love you all and are so thankful for you=) love, the growing davis fam ps. fun story: last week i looked back at catherine in her car seat and she had her hand over her chest and was looking down at it. i asked her what she was doing and she said "i'm feeling Jesus in my heart!" and got this big grin on her face. thank you Jesus, for our sweet girl's simple understanding of You. may she grow and grow in that understanding and Your miraculous love for her that breaks chains and frees people. may You be her (and this new babe's) greatest love.

Oh, I know that you don't know me. But I've been reading your blog since before Catherine was born (I know that maybe that's a little scary but you inspired me so), and I'm so, so happy for your family. So happy, and grateful, and thankful for you. Thank you for being such an inspiration to me.

Katie,
VERY, very happy for you!!! Congratulations!

P.S. My Brooklyn was due on Jan 1, but was born on Dec 21... so far I've figured out that it's much easier to do her birthday party at the very beginning of December because that is such a busy month for people. I'm not sure how we'll keep doing it the older she gets. But, I'm like you, I don't ever want her to feel like she's missing out on a birthday.

Hope you have a great pregnancy!

Yeah!! Cathrine will be such a great big sister! As for the Christmas birthday... One of my friends has a December 23 birthday and her first daughter was born on December 23 so they have always had birthday cake on the actual birthday, but party day was 6 months later June 23. Lots more fun and more options for party fun in summer months.
